Royal Palace front view     As Miguel de Cervantes knew well, the human voice does not carry speech only. In fact, voice also contains valuable information on emotions, pathologies or anatomy of individuals. Being conscious of this, a group of European scientists launched COST Action 2103 on Advance Voice Function Assessment (AVFA). Now, the Management Committee of COST 2103 has the honor and pleasure to invite the whole scientific community to the 3rd Advanced Voice Function Assessment International Workshop (AVFA2009) to be held in Madrid  (Spain) from the 18th to the 20th of May, 2009 and hosted by the  Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, .

     AVFA2009 offers a great opportunity for researchers from all over the world, representing different disciplines within the field of voice function assessment, to meet and share their current knowledge and present new ideas. The emphasis of AVFA2009 is on both basic and applied research related to the evaluation of voice quality and diagnosis schemes, as well as in the results of voice treatments.

     Contributions on Voice Physiology and Biomechanics, Modeling of Voice Production, Objective Assessment of Voice Quality, Diagnosis and Evaluation Protocols, Voice Database Collection and Management, Substitution Voices, Evaluation of Clinical Treatments, Esophagical Voices and related fields are welcome.

     The local organizing committee is willing to warmly welcome you in  Madrid. In addition to the scientific program and stimulating social program is being planned, which includes visits to nearby cities which are true jewels of Spanish heritage.
