Social program
The social program includes a guided visit to the historic city of Salem and a dinner in the waterfront at Salem's harbour.
Salem is located on the northeast coast of Massachusetts at the mouth of the Naumkeag River. Salem was founded in 1626 by Roger Conant and a group of immigrants from Cape Ann. It is best remembered for the witchcraft hysteria in the closing years of the 17th century.
A bus will depart from the main entrance of MIT building 36 ( 50 Vassar Street in Cambridge) at 16h 30' on Friday 20th, and will be back at Kendall square around 23h.
The guided visit will last 1h 30' and will start at 20 h. With the night falling across Salem, it's the perfect time to explore the city’s spooky and sinister past on a haunted history tour. This is a comfortably paced walking tour of downtown Salem, so please dress accordingly.
